Mike moved to the Rhode Island area (Newport) in 1986, to work for a small startup company in Newport. On the plane ride from NYC (via Rochester) on a 12-seat plane Mike saw something that moved him, he saw Narragansett Bay and fell in love with it. Ten years ago Mike bought a sailboat without knowing how to sail and ever since then his dream was to have a house on Prudence Island so he could enjoy his sailing and Narragansett Bay. In 2008 Mike Sheehan and Rong-Rong Zhu bought Kathryn McDevitt’s house. Rong-Rong did not even know Prudence Island existed and when we came to look at the house she too fell in love with Prudence Island and Narragansett Bay instantly. Though we are weekend residents now, we fully expect to spend considerable time on Prudence in the near future when we retire. Mike Sheehan brings to the Conservancy Board his ability to work with different people and balance different opinions to succeed. Mike loves nature, from sailing around Narragansett Bay to climbing Mt Kilimanjaro to running marathons
